Solutions for Associations, Inc. (SFA) offers a wide variety of services in relation to public affairs/government relations. Those services include:

  • monitoring federal legislation/regulations;
  • developing/presenting testimony;
  • developing grassroots networks and key contact programs;
  • conducting legislative/political training; and
  • creating federal and state legislative programs.

One of our services which is very useful to small to medium-sized associations is our legislative/regulatory tracking service. The United States Congress introduces thousands of bills every year. Various departmental agencies publish tens of thousands of rules annually. Legislative/regulatory actions have an extremely important effect on your association and its members.

The importance of keeping accurate track of legislative and regulatory activities in Washington cannot be minimized. Your members expect that their association is vigilant in these fast changing times. They can be very unforgiving if their association, their representative of the profession in which the members are involved, fails to react to a crucial issue because their organization is unaware of the bill's/regulation's existence.

This service is a tracking service only, and it will only make you aware of the existence of bills whose subject matter you have identified in discussion with our staff. This is the reason it can be offered to you at such a reasonable price.

To better serve you, SFA can offer assistance in the analysis of those bills, the preparation of testimony, the delivery of that testimony, and conducting requisite research to develop that response. These services would be the subject of a separate agreement in addition to the tracking service provided herein.

Our staff has a great deal of experience in the legislative arena. Following please find a partial listing of our accomplishments in this area:

  • established federal and state legislative/regulatory monitoring and reporting systems, resulting in timely information dissemination and policy evaluation;
  • planned, implemented and evaluated an effective association Government Relations program, resulting in the establishment of a new federal nurse anesthetist traineeship program; the defeat of onerous Medicare conditions of participation for nurse anesthetists; and the modification of thirty-eight state Nurse Practice Acts/State Boards' of Nursing rules and regulations;
  • created and staffed a political action committee, including preparation of the charter, bylaws, and filing of the requisite Federal Election Commission documents;
  • supervised a contract lobbyist in Washington, D.C.;
  • successfully opposed harmful changes proposed by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS); and
  • successfully amended New Jersey regulations producing a positive change for International Medical Graduates seeking licensure in that state.
